Church Multiplication in Australia Is Gaining Momentum!

It has been exciting to see that the number of new churches planted in Australia has grown by 22% compared to the previous year.

We clearly see a God factor in this. His Spirit is moving across our nation. And in the spirit of John the Baptist, the way is being prepared, not just for a harvest of souls, but of disciples; men and women who will follow Jesus wherever He leads. At the heart of this movement is the raising of workers for the harvest – leaders who will plant new churches.

This is a kairos moment. A critical time where conditions are aligning for something significant. In recent years, we’ve seen key components of a healthy church multiplication ecosystem begin to come together, including:

• Denominations and networks setting targets, developing strategies, and allocating personnel to fuel church planting
• The growth of quality church planting ministries
• A growing sense of collaboration across tribal boundaries
• Financial support for innovation, leadership development, and church planting
• A rising excitement about missional multiplication across the Church in our nation
• Church planting ministry leaders gathering annually at Exponential’s Round Tables (now in their 4th year)
• Denominational multiplication leaders connecting and learning from one another at Exponential-hosted gatherings
• Growing attendance at church multiplication events

We’ve especially seen momentum around the Exponential Australia National Conference.
The 2025 Conference hosted 623 leaders from 29 denominations and networks, and already 550 people have registered for August 2026!

In many cases, where one leader attended in 2025, entire teams are already booked for 2026. We anticipate registrations will close once we reach capacity, likely within the next 200 registrations. If you’re planning to come, register sooner rather than later.

Where We’re Praying for More Momentum

While there is much to celebrate, we’re also praying into several areas where we’d love to see greater progress:

• That churches across Australia will become more effective at helping attendees become disciples who follow Jesus, share the gospel, and multiply. To help equip churches for this, we developed the “10 Shifts to Birth Multiplication” eBook. This is a resource to support transformation from the inside out.
• That more men and women will be raised as workers for the harvest, supported by leadership pipelines that move disciples into leadership and planting
• That we will see a rise in prayer for our nation; for the raising of workers and the planting of churches

The momentum is building and for that, we are incredibly grateful. Our vision goal remains: to see 10% of churches across our nation multiplying in any given year. It’s a goal we know we can’t achieve on our own. But God can! He invites us all to partner with Him.

It’s encouraging to see so many individuals, churches, denominations, and ministries already doing that through Exponential.
