From Atheism to Church Planting: Pedro's Story

I have the privilege of leading a ministry that has been actively planting churches across Australia for nearly 15 years. We’re based on the Gold Coast and on average, we plant one church every year – a testament not to strategy alone, but to God’s unwavering faithfulness and the obedience of those called to serve. We’re working actively on two new church plants at the moment, one a second generation plant and the other a third generation plant – coming out of the churches we have planted before.

Faith was never part of my plan. In fact, I was groomed to be a smart, analytical atheist – destined for a career in engineering, where logic and reason were the foundation of reasoning. God was not on my radar, nor did I have any inclination to seek Him. But He had other plans. Suffice to say, He pursued me and found me when I was at my best hiding place: rebellion, bad friends, wrong plans…

I walked away from home and family after vigorously fighting my dad, severing ties with the life I had known. In that darkest moment – alone, without direction, and with no foundation to stand on – God found me. Not because I was searching, but because He was. What happened next was nothing short of supernatural. The Gospel gripped my heart in a way that no argument or philosophy ever could. Truth was no longer just an intellectual pursuit; it was a person. It was Jesus.

From that moment on, everything changed. Before I had ever set foot in a church, I was preaching. I can hardly remember a time in my life since then when I wasn’t proclaiming the Gospel. The call to ministry wasn’t something I stumbled into; it was ignited within me from the very start. And that fire has never dimmed.

Writing as a Calling

After many years of moving countries and pursuing God in different ways, I’ve found that words are a powerful tool in reaching people beyond the walls of the church. Writing allows me to engage with minds and hearts in spaces where traditional ministry may not always reach. Through books, articles, and other creative outlets, I seek to challenge, inspire, and encourage people to see the reality of God’s presence and purpose in their lives. Whether speaking to believers or skeptics, my mission remains the same: to make Christ known. That’s where my book comes and it’s through this channel that I keep a clean line of communication with the world.

The Vision of Full Gospel Apostolic Centre

Beyond writing, as the director of Full Gospel Apostolic Centre, my greatest passion is equipping leaders and planting churches.

What sets our work apart is that everything we do is completely free. From high-level Bible training to mentorship and coaching for church planters, our goal is simple: to bless as many churches as possible, regardless of denominational labels. We believe that healthy, well-equipped leaders create thriving churches, and thriving churches transform communities.

Free Bible Training with Excellence

We take theological and ministry training seriously. Our two-year Bible school offers a rigorous and academically excellent program designed to equip believers with a deep understanding of Scripture and practical ministry skills. We hold ourselves to the highest standards because we believe that preparation for ministry should be both spiritually enriching and intellectually robust. By making this education freely available, we remove financial barriers and ensure that anyone with a calling to serve God can receive the preparation they need.

Coaching and Mentorship for Church Planters

Church planting is both a spiritual calling and a strategic endeavor. Through our free coaching and mentorship programs, we walk alongside church planters, providing them with wisdom, guidance, and practical support. Whether it’s navigating leadership challenges, developing a strong theological foundation, or building a sustainable church community, we are committed to ensuring that every new church has the tools it needs to thrive.

A Kingdom-Minded Approach

One of the core values that drives our ministry is unity in the body of Christ. We do not see denominational differences as obstacles but rather as opportunities to work together for the sake of the Gospel. Our goal is not to build our own brand but to advance the kingdom of God by supporting as many churches and leaders as possible. When one church flourishes, the entire body of Christ benefits.

Looking Ahead

As we continue this work, my heart remains steadfast in the vision God has given us—to train, equip, and send out leaders who will make a lasting impact. The need for strong, Spirit-led churches has never been greater, and we are committed to playing our part in meeting that need.

Whether through writing, teaching, or church planting, my life’s mission is to see people encounter Jesus, grow in their faith, and step into their divine calling. And as long as God opens doors, we will continue to walk through them – one church, one leader, and one transformed life at a time.
